Building Services Engineer
Department - Corporate Services and Facilities
Salary - £43,151-£46,387 plus Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £2,500 per annum.
This is a full-time position for 37 hours per week, open to flexible, compressed, and part-time working patterns with a minimum coverage of 30 hours Monday to Friday. You will be part of an on-call rota, typically for a week every six weeks, for which you will receive an on-call allowance.
Role Overview: You will work on an estate with advanced technical facilities, supporting security and maintaining a diverse campus with manufacturing workshops, laboratories, server rooms, and offices. The estate includes buildings in various stages of construction and age, requiring varied infrastructure management.
You will operate in a dynamic environment, managing projects from new facility delivery to statutory compliance, diagnosing issues, and performing reactive repairs. Professional development opportunities include external CIBSE courses and in-house training.
About You:
To apply, you should have:
* A professional qualification in building services or relevant experience
* Understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems
* Knowledge of building regulations, safety standards, sustainable technologies
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Beneficial but not essential:
* Strong communication skills
* Experience with ISO standards like ISO 50001, ISO 14001
* Familiarity with AutoCAD
Personal Skills:
You should enjoy managing diverse projects, building strong relationships, promoting responsive services, demonstrating analytical skills, and effectively communicating with various audiences. Adaptability and teamwork are key.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure site safety and compliance
* Lead projects, manage equipment replacements and upgrades
* Respond to system failures and infrastructure issues
* Use Building Management System for fault diagnosis and system enhancements
* Handle user requests for repairs and improvements
