Join us as an Automation Tester, supporting the delivery of reliable, high‑quality technology solutions within our banking technology environment. This role sits within a collaborative testing and quality engineering function that works closely with development and delivery teams to ensure applications meet functional, technical, and regulatory expectations. You will play a key role in a large‑scale programme within lending origination, contributing to the quality and resilience of systems that underpin critical customer and business journeys.
This role focuses on building and maintaining automated testing solutions that help identify issues early, improve delivery reliability, and support continuous integration and deployment practices. You’ll be involved across the software development lifecycle, contributing to test automation design, execution, and continuous improvement of testing processes. This role offers exposure to a range of systems and technologies used within a regulated financial services environment.
Qualifications and Experience
* Test automation engineering, including building and maintaining automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Playwright, X‑Ray, and technologies including Java and SQL.
* Testing and delivery toolchains, with hands‑on experience using tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Nexus, Confluence, Veracode, GitLab, and Postman to support testing, collaboration, and CI/CD activities.
* Scripting and technical problem‑solving, with the ability to write and maintain scripts using Bash, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages to support test execution and automation workflows.
* Experience or exposure to AI‑enabled testing or intelligent automation, such as self‑healing tests, intelligent test generation, test data optimisation, or the use of machine learning‑assisted tools to improve test coverage, efficiency, and defect detection.
Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include
* Foundational computer science knowledge, gained through a Computer Science degree or equivalent practical experience, including understanding of object‑oriented design and data structures.
* Delivery experience within an IT project environment, ideally within banking or financial services, with an appreciation of quality, risk, and regulatory considerations.
* Adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to learn and apply new tools, technologies, and testing methodologies within an evolving technology landscape.

Purpose of the role
To design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to identify and resolve defects, and continuously improve testing processes and methodologies, to ensure software quality and reliability.
Accountabilities
* Development and implementation of comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
* Creation and execution of automated test scripts, leveraging testing frameworks and tools to facilitate early detection of defects and quality issues.
* Collaboration with cross‑functional teams to analyse requirements, participate in design discussions, and contribute to the development of acceptance criteria, ensuring a thorough understanding of the software being tested.
* Root cause analysis for identified defects, working closely with developers to provide detailed information and support defect resolution.
* Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
* Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
