Daytime Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Surgeon
This 24‑hour small animal hospital is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join an experienced and supportive team in Shrewsbury. The role is ideal for a clinician who enjoys the challenge and variety of hospital‑based medicine, prefers daytime working hours, and is passionate about Emergency and Critical Care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the management of inpatients and emergency cases presenting through the A&E service.
- Perform emergency procedures directly or coordinate treatment plans alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team.
- Ensure the highest standards of care for hospitalised patients and deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment.
- Support clients through stressful and emotional situations with strong communication skills and a compassionate approach.
Qualifications & Experience
- Veterinary Surgeon qualified to practice in the UK.
- Practical surgical experience and confidence in managing complex medical cases.
- Motivation and commitment to continual professional development.
- Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Working Hours & Schedule
The successful applicant will work an average of 40 hours per week. Schedule options include a 4‑on/4‑off rota pattern or three shifts per week with participation in a 2‑in‑9 weekend rota. Shifts run from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm and include a one‑hour unpaid lunch break.
