Following the retirement of the current postholder, The Maelor School—a high-performing secondary school in the heart of the Wrexham countryside—is seeking a dynamic and strategic School Business Manager to join our senior leadership team. This is a vital role, central to the continued success and development of our thriving school.
As School Business Manager, you will oversee the non-teaching operations of the school, including finance, HR, estates, health and safety, and administration. You’ll work closely with the Headteacher and Governors, ensuring that our resources are effectively managed to support the highest standards of teaching and learning.
We are looking for an applicant who has:
•A proven track record in financial or operational management, ideally within an educational setting
•Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
•Strategic thinking skills with the ability to deliver practical results
•A relevant qualification in business, finance, or school business management (e.g., CSBM, DSBM) is desirable
Key Responsibilities:
•Lead on financial planning, budgeting, and reporting
•Manage school support staff and HR processes
•Oversee the maintenance and development of the school estate
•Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations
•Contribute to strategic planning and school improvement initiatives
