Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Garden Maintenance operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring they are healthy, attractive, and well-kept. This role offers an opportunity to work outdoors in a busy environment, contributing to the beauty and sustainability of various landscapes. Prior gardening or horticultural experience is not essential, although a passion for the outdoors is required.
Full training including the opportunity to gain industry approved qualification.
A full time 12 months a year contract is available for the right candidate
Duties
* Use hand tools such as secateurs, spades, and rakes to prune, trim, and clear garden areas
* Operate power tools including lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers to maintain grounds
* Install and manage irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants and lawns
* Plant new flora, including flowers, shrubs, and trees, following landscape plans
* Perform regular landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding.
* Assist with the planning and implementation of garden projects to improve aesthetics and health of the environment
* Monitor plant health and identify signs of pests or disease for appropriate action
* Maintain safety standards by handling equipment responsibly and adhering to health and safety guidelines
Skills
* Enthusiasm to work in gardening, horticulture or landscape maintenance is required
* Gardening experience with plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees is preferred
* Driving license required to use company van during work hours
* Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining attention to detail
* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
* Physical fitness to perform manual labour including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
