About the role
Are you an experienced care professional looking for a role where you can truly make a difference while continuing to grow in your career? Our Casual Residential Support Worker opportunity could be a great fit for you — and we're excited to be recruiting across our Edinburgh cluster.
Our Edinburgh services include Couthie House, Castlelaw Cottage, Al‑Rahman House, Gilmerton Road, and our Housing Support and Care at Home service.
* Couthie House, Castlelaw Cottage and Al‑Rahman House offer long‑term residential care for young people who can't currently live at home, providing stability, safety, and nurturing support.
* Gilmerton Road provides short breaks and outreach support for children and young people with learning disabilities and behaviours that may challenge.
* Our Housing Support and Care at Home service offers full‑time, 2:1 support for a young woman with learning disabilities, helping her live safely and confidently at home.
In this role, you'll use your skills and compassion to empower young people, help them build resilience, and support their wellbeing. With a strong focus on person‑centred care and meaningful relationships, you'll play an important part in helping each young person feel heard, valued, and supported.
We're committed to your development too. You'll be part of a warm, supportive team, with access to professional qualifications, regular supervision, team gatherings, and a genuine sense of community, all designed to help you grow and thrive in your career.
The children and young people we support have complex learning disabilities and may express themselves through behaviours that challenge. We see behaviour as communication, and we work with patience, curiosity, and understanding to interpret what they're telling us. With your dedication and insight, you'll help create the conditions for positive communication and meaningful progress.

* Have spent time working in a care setting and know how to build genuine, trusting relationships with the people you support.
* Be comfortable using different ways to communicate and stay connected with the young person and their family, making sure everyone feels informed and involved.
* Like to focus on solutions, whether you're tackling something on your own or working things through with the team.
* Be able to stay steady, patient, and grounded, even when the role brings moments that feel challenging.
* Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.
