Overview
The successful person will have enthusiasm for continence and an interest in assisting patients with bladder and bowel issues, supporting patients in managing incontinence. The post is based in the Weymouth, Portland & Dorchester locality, linking with the local district nurse team and other health professionals within the community.
Responsibilities
* Work under the supervision of clinicians within the team, with the ability to work autonomously at times.
* Carry out continence assessments for housebound patients via telephone, in the patient’s home, or in a care home facility if appropriate.
* Provide conservative lifestyle advice (e.g., fluid intake and bladder irritants) to help with bladder and bowel symptoms and to support the basis for containment products and devices.
* Conduct assessment consultations with patients, and where appropriate, involve family members and other care providers with consent.
* Opportunity to carry out bladder scans and sheath fittings, for which full training will be provided.
* Base with the continence team at Forston Clinic near Dorchester; predominantly remote work with suitable equipment provided.
* Travel to patient homes and community settings as required; a full driving licence and access to a car are required.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Full driver’s licence and use of own car (to visit patients in their homes and community settings).
* Willingness to develop clinical skills in continence and participate in supervision and appraisals.
* Opportunities for further training may be available through the Trust’s Training Department.
* Applications from candidates requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible to apply.
Work Base and Training
Your base would be with the continence team at Forston Clinic near Dorchester. The post requires you to mainly work remotely; appropriate equipment will be provided. You will receive regular supervision and training to reach defined competency levels.
