Purpose And Scope Of The Role
Tetra Tech is expanding its Water Consultancy team in Brighton, Bristol & Exeter and invites graduates to join our strategy function across clean water engineering, data analytics and modelling. During probation, you will be office‑based; thereafter, the role combines hybrid working with occasional site visits for data collection. You will support large‑scale AMP programmes, contribute to model development and reporting, and work alongside experienced engineers and analysts on projects that influence regional water resilience and environmental outcomes.
Responsibilities
You will gain practical experience turning data into decisions, building statistical and hydraulic models, and producing client‑ready reports. In the short term, you will support project tasks and data delivery; over 12–24 months, you will take ownership of defined workstreams and develop technical specialisms in clean water, GIS or modelling; longer term, there are clear career routes into technical and leadership roles across the business.
* Data handling & analysis - Competent in managing large datasets, cleaning time‑series data and performing basic statistical analysis.
* Modelling & software aptitude - Familiarity with or willingness to learn modelling tools and to contribute to the construction and maintenance of statistical or hydraulic models.
* GIS competence - Experience or interest in QGIS/ArcGIS and spatial data workflows to support mapping and analysis.
* Technical communication - Able to prepare clear, factual and interpretative reports and present findings to project teams and clients.
* Teamwork & problem solving - Collaborative mindset, readiness to learn, and the ability to apply logical thinking to deliver practical solutions.
Qualifications
Expected: degree in civil engineering, geography, GIS, environmental science or related discipline. Desirable: modules in hydraulics, water networks, flood risk, coding, or statistical methods.
Work patterns & locations
Roles based in Brighton, Exeter & Bristol. Office attendance during probation, then hybrid with typical 2–3 days per week in the office and periodic site visits. Applicants must upload a CV and a covering letter explaining their interest and chosen discipline.
