The CNS works alongside professionals working with vulnerable young people with complex and multiple needs. These include children in residential care; children and young people on the edge of care; young people who have left care; children and young people who are involved with the Youth Offending Service; those at risk of exploitation and extra-familial harm; and children who present harmful sexual behaviours.
We work in partnership with other professionals to develop knowledge and understanding of child emotional development; to consider the impact of trauma and abuse; so that those professionals may develop understanding of a young person’s presenting difficulties and they can be supported in the most helpful way.

We utilise a trauma-informed approach and provide consultation, formulation, training, supervision, assessment and direct work where appropriate, supporting young people to access mainstream services.
