Location: Barrow or Filton
Hourly Rate: £60 PAYE or £81.05 Umbrella
Contract length: 12 months
Working Arrangements: Hybrid – 2 days on-site every 2 weeks
Join a world-class team at BAE Systems, where innovation meets engineering excellence. We're seeking an experienced Electrical Power Systems Engineer to join our Electrical Verification Team, playing a key role in verifying and validating electrical platforms for high-integrity systems.
In this role, you'll help shape the future of our power systems through in-depth analysis, modelling, and collaborative development with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Perform load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis of complex electrical power systems.
Manage and analyse the electrical load budget across platforms.
Develop and validate electrical models to support design maturity.
Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver technical solutions.
Produce clear, concise technical reports and presentations with recommendations.
Mentor and support the development of junior engineers.
Uphold and champion health, safety, and environmental standards, reporting any hazards or incidents appropriately.
What We're Looking For
Knowledge & Experience
Experience with medium and high-voltage power systems and distribution.
Strong understanding of load budgets and flow analysis.
Proficient in tools such as ETAP, MATLAB, Simulink/Simscape.
Familiarity with defence standards is advantageous.
Skills
Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
Confident navigating the engineering lifecycle.
Effective stakeholder management capabilities.
Qualifications
Degree-qualified (BEng/MEng or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering – Expected
CEng or ability to meet CEng requirements – Preferred
Minimum 10 years' experience in relevant engineering roles – Expected
