Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist - Rotational, based at Beehive, Woodland View, Ayrshire Central Hospital - Adult Mental Health In-patient Service.


What you will do

You will work in an agreed area of Occupational Therapy ensuring the provision of quality services. In Ayrshire and Arran we have developed a pan Ayrshire rotation across a range of clinical specialties and settings in North, South and East Ayrshire. The rotations are one year in duration.

You will work in partnership with colleagues, as part of the multi-disciplinary and Occupational Therapy team and will manage a caseload, using evidence based principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. You will be passionate in empowering service users to achieve their goals and to remain as independent and active as possible. Participation in service improvement is expected and encouraged.

Your role will involve promotion and education to relevant stakeholders. It is therefore essential that you possess effective communication skills, which will include presentation skills, written reporting skills and interpersonal skills. You will also be required to develop effective networks with colleagues across health, local authority and partner agencies.

You will be joining teams who are enthusiastic and committed to delivering compassionate, person centred, strengths based and innovative care. Post holder will have an understanding of the current agendas influencing services and be able to evidence continuous professional development.

Successful applicants whose registration is pending would be aligned to a band 4 Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner role until such times as their HCPC registration is complete.


Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job

* A Diploma, BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy or within 6 months completion of a BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy are essential requirements
* Requires to have completed Flying Start and be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of Occupational Therapy, through CPD, Post Graduate training, evidence of additional knowledge and experience
* Must have varied clinical experience of working in a relevant speciality
* Current Health and Care Professions Council Registration (existing or pending within 6 months)
* Evidence of sound clinical knowledge and skills.
* Excellent communication skills particularly with multi-agencies.
* Evidence of development of leadership and supervision skills.
* Committed to team & personal development with evidence of self-directed learning.
* Mandatory and Statutory training (MAST) and role specific MAST


Hours

37 hours per week


UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership

A UK car licence and access to a car is essential to this role.
