We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a Health Care Support Worker to join our Mental Health In-patient Older Adult Ward based on Oak Ward, The Redwoods Centre, Shrewsbury.
We are looking for individuals who will provide high quality care and treatment to our patients. We have 16 beds and provide care for males and females with possible or diagnosed organic mental illnesses such as dementia. We do also provide care for older adults with a functional mental health condition.
There is opportunity to complete the uplift competencies and progress to a band 3 Senior Health Care Support worker on successful completion of these.
This role will require you to work shift patterns covering 24/7
As a Healthcare Support Worker on our Mental Health wards, you will promote service user's recovery through the delivery of high quality, outcome measured care and evidence-based interventions.
Provide support and spend therapeutic time with an allocated group of service users with mental health needs.
Assist Registered Professionals in the implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans
Regularly report and effectively communicate service users' health status and care aims in care records and verbal reports to Registered Professional Staff members and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including while supporting section 136 assessments and ECT treatment

Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care
NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care with demonstrable evidence of numeracy and literacy skills (equivalent GCSE's or Functional Skills)
Experience of working with people with Mental Health needs as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Experience working with non-dementia related mental health
Knowledge and awareness of issues relating to mental health, access to mental health services, and mental health promotion.
Skills in literacy, written, verbal and an ability to effectively use electronic information and computer technology.
The ability to recognise own limitations and to effectively utilise supervision and support systems to ensure safe and effective delivery of services.
Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care
