Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, forward‑thinking and highly motivated pharmacist to join our friendly and progressive Pharmacy team at Frimley Park Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist with a passion for antimicrobial stewardship, education, and optimisation of patient care. In this specialist role you will combine your clinical expertise with a strong desire to improve antibiotic use across the organisation, providing expert advice and support to medical, nursing and pharmacy colleagues, as well as directly to patients. While you will have an allocated ward for regular clinical cover, your primary focus will be delivering high‑quality antimicrobial stewardship across the hospital.
You will play a key role in audit, surveillance and the effective use of digital tools to monitor antibiotic prescribing trends and support quality improvement. As an excellent communicator and team player you will enjoy educating colleagues, influencing best practice and driving positive change in antimicrobial use.
This is a full‑time post based primarily at Frimley Park Hospital. Core departmental hours are 09:00 – 17:15, Monday to Friday, with participation in evening and weekend rotas as required.
Core Duties / Responsibilities
* Assist in further development and implementation of an antimicrobial stewardship programme across Frimley Health.
* Continue the development, delivery and update of integrated antimicrobial guidelines and policies across Frimley Health.
* Work closely with microbiology/ID consultants and antimicrobial pharmacists to develop and improve audit tools to monitor antimicrobial prescribing, and help exploit EPIC capabilities.
* Develop training on antimicrobial stewardship prescribing and deliver it across the Trust.
* Act as a role model for antimicrobial stewardship and clinical pharmacy practice, promoting consistently high standards in line with Pharmacy and Trust objectives.
* Act as a reserve resource to senior antimicrobial pharmacists from both hospitals when needed.
* Assist with the review of existing clinical policies and guidelines to deliver a unified antimicrobial policy across Frimley Health NHS FT.
* Help improve and benchmark audit and QI tools against other organisations.
* Ensure antimicrobial prescribing aligns with formulary and Trust specifications, optimising cost‑effectiveness.
* Act as editor for Microguide and assist with improvement programs planned for that platform.
Qualifications
Essential Criteria
* Pharmacy degree (Masters level, 4 years)
* Registered with GPhC
* Postgraduate clinical diploma or appropriate equivalent
* Independent Prescriber (or intention to become one)
* Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)
Desirable Criteria
* MSc or higher degree
* Formal management qualification
* RPS membership
Experience
Essential Criteria
* Significant post‑qualification experience working as a pharmacist in a clinical environment
Desirable Criteria
* Regular experience of providing antimicrobial clinical pharmacy support
* Teaching or tutoring experience
Skills & Knowledge

* Excellent written and verbal communication

* Good interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills
* Applied clinical knowledge
Desirable Criteria
* Evidence of interest in research
* Prior experience with EPR systems, particularly optimising them for AMS uses
* Evidence of published work in peer‑reviewed journals
