Job Title: Paediatric Fellow in Simulation and Education
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated paediatric doctor to join our team as a fellow in simulation and education in paediatrics. This position is ideal for a senior Paediatric or Emergency Medicine trainee (ST3+) aiming to enhance their portfolio in leadership, education, and management skills, which will be invaluable as you progress to a consultant role.
Applicants will be supported in developing an area of interest from the available opportunities. We welcome all applicants and are open to discussing flexible working arrangements and start dates. Our clinical fellows follow a self-rostered rota.
Key Responsibilities
1. Work contracted hours on a dedicated Paediatric ED middle grade rota.
2. Gain experience and training in managing medically unwell and injured children in a busy Trauma Unit, part of the North East London Trauma Network.
3. Provide advice, teaching, and supervision to junior colleagues in the Paediatric Emergency Department.
4. Contribute to expanding education in the department, particularly in simulation and MDT learning opportunities.
5. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, guideline and pathway development, and research projects.
6. Engage in child protection activities and collaborate with the local safeguarding team.
7. Attend weekly paediatric teaching and regional training days, and contribute to teaching the multidisciplinary team.
8. Lead in resuscitation and trauma calls within the service.
About the Department
The paediatrics team at North Middlesex Hospital boasts a well-established in-situ simulation program and a dedicated simulation suite. Recognized as one of London's top training sites, the department has received the RCPCH 'PAFTA' award in 2017 and 2020. The department is actively involved in quality improvement, child protection, and participates in PERUKI research projects.
Minimum Requirements
* Senior Paediatric or Emergency Medicine trainee (ST3+).
* Interest in simulation, education, leadership, and management in paediatrics.
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
