Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading aerospace organisation to recruit a Subcontract Manager for an initial 12 month contract. Pay rate up to £465 per day umbrella. Hybrid working: 3 days on site in Templecombe, Somerset and 2 days from home.
Role Overview
The Subcontract Manager is responsible for ensuring successful execution of supplier contracts after signature, particularly high‑expense or high‑risk agreements, complex terms and conditions, and change‑management and risk‑mitigation requirements. They ensure supplier compliance with commercial, delivery, schedule, cost and performance requirements as defined in the contract and maintain close relationships with project functions and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage Supplier Contract
o Manage contract from placement (PVET4) to close‑out.
o Enforce compliance with contractual terms, deliverables and milestones, aligning with safety, quality, environment, CSR, project efficiency and competitiveness.
o Document and maintain all contractual records.
* Lead direct contractual relationship with suppliers, acting as the commercial/contractual point of contact and handling all contractual queries, invoice applications, claims, variations and notices.
* Ensure Supplier Contract Coverage – work with Category Manager and Legal Department to guarantee all requirements are covered by robust contracts or progress in accordance with the client’s procurement process and governance.
* Process and certify invoice applications in accordance with the contract, ensuring timely payment; maintain visibility of purchase requisitions and orders.
* Manage Supplier Claims and Disputes
o Manage any disputes, back‑charges or claims.
o Receive, assess and negotiate claims in line with response‑time requirements.
o Liaise with Legal and Contracts team to identify and communicate claims to the Customer.
o Collect and record cost data and contractual records to support claim issues.
o Analyse and report the impact of cost and time claims and drive mitigation action plans.
* Identify, monitor and implement changes to scope or contract; manage cost/time implications, support negotiation and validation of change orders, and maintain and report change logs.
* Review Performance Management
o Apply appropriate supplier relationship management and performance management techniques to improve performance, mitigate risk and capture innovation.
o Lead ongoing performance review meetings, monitoring obligations and trends.
o Request performance improvement plans to resolve operational issues.
o Collaborate cross‑functionally to drive supplier performance.
* Identify risks, opportunities and issues and, if necessary, escalate with the project team; contribute to the procurement or project risk register and drive action/mitigation plans.
* Monitor supplier cost, quality and schedule against contract requirements; track spend against awarded price and EAC; provide regular reports to project management and flag issues early; support or lead cost‑avoidance initiatives.
* Track and report progress against contractual milestones, flagging issues early.
* Provide support to projects, bids and functions by liaising within procurement to feed lessons learned into future bids and projects.
