The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board’s clinical Rheumatology directorate is a busy, dynamic, and organised department, comprising eight full time and less than full time consultants, supported by specialist nursing staff and a physician’s assistant based across four sites - Royal Gwent hospital, Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, Grange University Hospital and Nevill Hall Hospital. There are Rheumatology Day unit services in both Nevill Hall and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr sites and clinics also at the Royal Gwent Hospital. We actively participate in shared care and patients are managed locally as far as possible though we also have close links with tertiary referral centres where necessary. Main duties of the job The successful applicant will assist the consultant staff in assessing Rheumatology inpatient referrals and will also participate in Rheumatology clinics at the Royal Gwent hospital, Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr and Nevill Hall hospital. The candidate may also take part in assessing patients who are undertaking Rheumatology clinical trials. There is a no on call component attached to this post and, in addition to clinics, the successful applicant may be required to attend the Grange University hospital for inpatient referrals and provide support for the day unit in Nevill Hall when necessary.
