Band 6 College Nurse – Orchard Hill College, Parkview
Salary: Band 6 – 3 days/week £23,111.99 – £27,287.18 (FTE £42,823 – 50,559)
Location: Park view
Working Pattern: 3 days a week – Term time plus 2
Overview: The College Nurse role is centred on improving the health, wellbeing, and independence of students with learning and communication difficulties. Working collaboratively with families, educators and support teams, the nurse advocates for student choice and supports the achievement of individual goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Use a person‑centred approach to promote choice, independence and inclusion, working toward the Preparing for Adulthood Agenda.
* Jointly set and review EHCP-related targets with teaching, other support and integrated services staff.
* Oversee medical management and care plans, and respond to medical emergencies.
* Ensure effective joint working practice between integrated services teams, education, health, social services, voluntary sectors and students’ families to overcome limitations students may encounter.
* Maintain up-to-date NMC registration and adhere to NMC Professional and Clinical Standards and Code of Conduct, as well as National and Local Clinical Guidelines.
Key Requirements
* Degree or Graduate Diploma in Nursing.
* NMC Registration.
* Experience with people over 16 who have severe/profound and multiple learning disabilities and/or Autism.
* Able to make judgements based on evidence‑based practice and translate this for use in the clinical team environment.
