Our Client:-
Our client is a privately owned country estate set in beautiful surroundings, comprising a mix of residential, commercial and agricultural tenancies. The estate team is small, hands-on and committed to delivering a high-quality experience for tenants, visitors and stakeholders.
With growth aspirations and increasing complexity, the estate is now looking to bring its finance function in-house for the first time. This newly created role will be central to ensuring the financial integrity of the estate and supporting the smooth running of its day-to-day operations.
They are looking for a confident and diligent Finance & Operations Administrator with excellent relationship management and bookkeeping skills to join their small team.
The Role:-
This is a broad and varied position combining hands-on financial management with involvement in estate operations. You will work closely with the estate owner and be supported by our Fractional Finance Director. It would suit a proactive, organised individual who enjoys working across different areas of a business.
As Finance & Operations Administrator your responsibilities will include:
Finance
* Maintain accurate accounting records using Xero;
* Raise invoices and manage debtor and creditor ledgers;
* Liaise with external accountants on VAT returns and annual accounts;
* Support budgeting and forecasting processes;
* Manage outsourced payroll, pensions and HMRC submissions;
* Monitor financial performance across all estate activities;
* Help develop the growth strategy in conjunction with the owners and FD.
Operations
* Act as first point of contact for day-to-day queries from tenants and suppliers;
* Assist with the administration of tenancy agreements and holiday bookings;
* Maintain records relating to contracts, insurance, utilities and compliance;
* Liaise with tradespeople and service providers to coordinate maintenance or repairs;
* Help implement new processes and systems to support the estate’s growth;
* Assist with the promotion of the estate through marketing and networking;
* Support ad hoc estate projects as needed.
The Successful Applicant:-
As Finance & Operations Administrator you will be AAT qualified with experience of working in a finance team within a small business or family office. You will enjoy maintaining an organized finance function whilst being keen to help with the operational requirements of managing a family estate.
Key attributes include:
* AAT qualified (or equivalent) as a minimum — ACCA / CIMA part-qualified or qualified is a bonus;
* Experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within a small business or family office environment;
* Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping;
* Comfortable with accounting software and Excel;
* Highly organised, detail oriented and comfortable working independently;
* Practical, flexible and willing to get stuck into a range of tasks;
* Excellent communication skills and a personable, approachable manner.
