* PAYE: £31.71 per hour

Network Recruitment Wales is recruiting a Senior Social Work Practitioner to join the Statutory Assessment Team within Children’s Services in Blaenau Gwent. This 16-week temporary role has arisen due to a vacancy pending permanent recruitment and offers an excellent opportunity to provide leadership while making a meaningful difference to children and families.
This is a fast-paced, rewarding role focusing on Section 47 enquiries and consent-based Integrated Assessments, allowing you to concentrate on early, impactful intervention before cases transfer to longer-term teams.
----------------------------------- What You’ll Do:
* Lead on high-quality, proportionate statutory assessments, including Section 47 enquiries and Integrated Assessments.
* Manage a complex caseload, ensuring safeguarding and welfare needs of children are met.
* Support and mentor Social Workers through coaching, guidance, and monthly supervision in line with departmental policy.
* Undertake decision-making on new referrals and coordinate timely, outcome-focused assessments.
* Chair complex meetings where appropriate and contribute to effective multi-agency working.
* Step in for the Team Manager when required, supporting service continuity and leadership.
* Work closely with performance and data teams to ensure accurate recording and reporting.
* Promote strengths-based, reflective, and anti-discriminatory practice across the service.
----------------------------------- What We’re Looking For:
* A qualified Social Worker with a Degree in Social Work.
* Registration with Social Care Wales (essential).
* Significant experience within Children’s Services, particularly statutory assessment and safeguarding.
* Strong leadership, supervision, and mentoring skills.
* Excellent communication, report-writing, and decision-making abilities.
* A sound understanding of child protection legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice.
* Commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding children and adults at risk.
