About the Role
Leeds City College is looking for a Senior Chef Manager to manage all student & staff catering outlets at the Quarry Hill campus, which form part of Luminate Education Group. The role will require providing a range of freshly produced nutritious meals that our students and staff will enjoy whilst providing an outstanding level of service.
This hands-on role will require someone to effectively manage a team of food service assistants working across 2 cafes. The post holder will require a keen eye for detail and driving standards, especially in relation to the implementation of food safety standards and food profit & loss.
This role would suit anyone looking for a challenging role with a high level of support, working Monday to Friday daytime shifts with only very occasional evening and weekend work.
We are also able to offer this role on a term time only contract if required (advertised salary would then be pro rata).
What You Will Do
* To effectively manage the 2 onsite cafes delivering an excellent high-quality service.
* To cook and prepare meals and snacks for the cafés, ensuring menus are innovative and nutritious, current and meets the needs of our customers.
* To control the budget for the purchasing and ordering of food, achieving GP margins and control other costs associated with the business.
* To provide catering for functions, meetings and events.
* Motivate and train the team of food service assistants to ensure they provide a high-quality service for our customers & students.
* To accurately account for the receiving, recording and storing of monies.
* To accurately record purchasing invoices and manage stock to achieve the budgeted GP.
About You
* Relevant up to date knowledge of catering and hospitality.
* Relevant experience, knowledge and understanding of cooking in the catering & hospitality sector.
* Experience of working positively with young people and adults.
* Experience of managing within a refectory/canteen facility, preferably working across a number of outlets.
* Experience in producing a range of food types in a commercial kitchen environment.
* Experience in managing a team and supporting them with training and development opportunities.
* Experience in managing food costs and understanding GP margins.
* Ability to follow Food Hygiene systems and monitor due diligence records.
