Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a part‑time Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Drake Hall, a women's closed prison located near Eccleshall, Staffordshire, with around 340 female inmates. The role is attached to a new Women's Health Hub and aims to implement, guide, and support Structured Medicine Reviews (SMR) to address problematic polypharmacy, ensure appropriate prescribing, reduce over‑prescribing and initiate deprescribing where appropriate.
Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Hours
Part‑time, 7.5 hours a week: one day per week on Wednesdays, or two half‑days per week with a Wednesday mandatory.
Salary
Annual salary up to £57,955 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main Duties
* Provide expert clinical advice on medicines and polypharmacy in line with expected standards, ensuring safe, modern medicines management and optimisation services are provided to patients.
* Deliver an integrated, safe, legal and high‑quality prison pharmacy service as part of a comprehensive healthcare package based on prison population needs.
* Inspire positive and aspirational leadership for pharmacy technicians and the wider healthcare team to create and maintain a good working environment and facilitate staff retention.
* Promote good practice in all prescribing decisions to develop and implement improved medicines management understanding throughout the prison healthcare team.
* Share information relating to pharmaceutical products, medicines management, optimisation, legislation and general health education so that patients and the healthcare team are appropriately informed.
Qualifications Required
* GPhC registered Pharmacist
* Interest in female health
* Procurement / Audit experience
* Willingness to undertake training in menopause and contraception – desirable
* Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy including pre‑reg training
* Experience developing working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Experience
Ideally, experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
