Working within the General Surgery Department, specifically within the UGI Team. Partaking in the General Surgery Directorate on call rota alongside Consultant colleagues. Main duties of the job • In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to provide a service in General Surgery. • In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to play a full part in the out-of-hours On-Call service for the department. This includes being on-call for telephone advice and major incidents. • To provide cover for Consultant and Senior colleagues in respect of periods of leave. • To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary. • The post-holder will contribute to the General Surgery service, including elective theatres, clinics, on call duties. Person Specification Educational Qualifications Essential • Full registration and a licence to practise with the GMC • On the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of interview • MRCOG Desirable • Higher Medical Degree Research and Audit Essential • Evidence of audit and the implementation of change following the audit Desirable • Relevant research published in peer review journal Education and Teaching • Evidence of contributing to departmental teaching programmes.
