Job Overview
University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) is recruiting Sterile Services Technicians for Royal Stoke Hospital and the County Hospital, Stafford. The role involves supply, maintenance and sterilisation of surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes, ensuring delivery back to operating theatres, wards, clinics and GP surgeries.
Shift Patterns
* Core shift 14:00‑22:00 Monday‑Sunday with a day off in the week.
* Saturday or Sunday shift 08:00‑20:00 (or 08:00‑23:30 for Saturday & Sunday).
* On call, Bank Holiday, and rota work essential.
Responsibilities
* Supply and maintain surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes.
* Clean, disinfect, package and sterilise instruments for use in theatres and clinics.
* Deliver sterilised instruments back to operating theatres, wards, departments, clinics and GP surgeries.
* Support the Sterilisation and Disinfection Unit operations and uphold patient safety standards.
Qualifications
* GCSE level (basic computer skills required).
* Ability to read small letters on instruments and follow written instructions.
* No prior experience necessary – full training provided.
* High standards, genuine interest in healthcare and ability to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines.
* Disclosure and Barring Service check required prior to starting.
* Applicants on a visa must have at least six months remaining at the time of start date.
