Overview
We are seeking a skilled Fitter to join our dynamic team, to maintain, repair, and ensure the efficient operation of all mechanical equipment and machinery used in the production of pallets. The fitter plays a key role in minimizing downtime and ensuring that plant equipment runs safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
* Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on plant machinery, including saws, conveyors, nail guns, pallet assembly lines, and hydraulic systems.
* Diagnose mechanical faults and perform timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
* Install new machinery and mechanical systems, including alignment, calibration, and testing.
* Perform routine inspections of mechanical systems to identify issues before they become problems.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and service reports.
* Work closely with the production team to schedule maintenance activities during non-peak hours.
* Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Ensure tools and workshop equipment are maintained in good working order.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment efficiency.
* Assist in sourcing spare parts and liaising with suppliers as needed.
* Support other team members and assist in training apprentices or new staff when required.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting, or similar discipline.
* Proven experience with machine maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic welding.
* Ability to read technical drawings and machine manuals.
* Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional weekend or shift work if required.
* Forklift license (desirable).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £32,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
