We’re recruiting for a Process Engineer for a permanent role within a UK-based manufacturing and technology-driven organisation. This position offers flexible working and the opportunity to play a key role in scaling production processes and shaping technical operations in a high-growth environment.
Role Overview
As a Process Engineer, you will lead the scale-up of production processes from pilot to commercial scale, working across complex manufacturing and post-processing operations. You will be involved across the full production lifecycle, from lab-scale experimentation to full-scale operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and consistency at every stage.
This role suits an engineer who enjoys ownership, problem-solving, and contributing to innovative, sustainable production solutions in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading scale-up of production processes from pilot to commercial scale
* Designing, optimising, and improving production facilities to enhance productivity, quality, and safety
* Coordinating with R&D teams and external partners to deliver scale-up targets
* Identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce costs, minimise waste, and increase efficiency
* Monitoring process performance metrics such as yield, quality, and productivity
* Planning and overseeing experiments at lab and pilot scale to support commercial goals
* Contributing to strategic planning and operational decisions for process development
Skills and Experience
* 5+ years’ experience in process engineering within a manufacturing or production environment
* Degree in Engineering (chemical, mechanical, industrial, or similar)
* Experience with downstream processing such as separation, dewatering, washing, and thermal treatment at industrial scale
* Proven experience in process scale-up and technology transfer from pilot to commercial production
* Experience supporting the manufacture of finished products at scale
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Self-motivated with the ability to drive work independently
* Experience working in emerging or innovative manufacturing sectors
* Interest in sustainable production and high-quality product development
