Hours: Roating 3 Shfits: Mornings (6am-2pm), Afternoons (2pm-10pm), Nights (10pm -6am)
Salary: £20.56 per hour
Main Purpose of Job
Due to a surge in Defence contracts, MTL Advanced are on a recruitment drive for a number of experienced and highly skilled Welders to join our defence operations. You will be joining our skilled team to perform welding activities on armoured products and vehicles. The majority of the work will be MIG welding where your dexterity and hand-eye coordination will help to make welds clean and precise.
Key Objectives and Duties
1. Perform welding activities on carbon steel, armour steel, aluminium
2. Weld various joint configurations in all positions
3. Ensure equipment parameters are set to the optimum to fully satisfy weld quality, integrity and WPS requirements
4. Review engineering drawings for parts to be welded
5. Satisfy production schedules to the correct quality level and within the specified time scale
6. Carry out and record the daily / weekly / monthly maintenance checks and record the necessary safety checks
7. Ensure correct marking up of component parts
8. Ensure that the labelling system is adhered to
Personal Responsibilties
9. Must have a minimum of 12 months Welding / Fabrication Experience.
10. Understanding of quality procedures and specific customer requirements
11. Ideally a coded welder
12. Advanced knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing procedures
13. Proficient with metal fabrication tools
14. Advanced mathematical and engineering skills
15. Ability to lift and manipulate large metal objects
16. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
17. Ability to remain focused on Quality and consistently reiterate its importance to others
18. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to generate innovative concepts and ideas
