About The Role
* Title: Health & Safety Manager
* Start Date: Immediate start available
* Type: Permanent
* Hours of work: 40 hours per week 8-4:30 Mon - Fri
* Rate of pay: £46,592 pa dependent on experience + company vehicle for business use only or potential car allowance at £3,500 pa
* Location: Based at our Plympton office
Roles and Responsibilities
* Work alongside the Company Directors to develop professional relationships with existing and new clients.
* Actively promote the Company and the services offered.
* Actively involved in projects from inception to completion with respect to Health and Safety.
* Completion and Issuing of Risk Assessments and Method Statements for all works.
* Developing the logistics and traffic management plan for projects and sites, including changes to traffic flow and establishment of laydown areas.
* Fire risk assessments to be developed prior to the project commencement to ensure that all fire exits compromised by any construction site are adequately rerouted and communicated to all relevant parties. The Fire Risk Assessment and any subsequent reroutes should be constantly monitored throughout the duration of a project.
* Develop and issue of Principal Contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements. Review and recommendations for all subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
* Conduct meetings (as frequently as required) between contractors and clients to coordinate works on both sides, and to review any hazardous processes or those which might be deemed essential to site and coordinate with relevant teams (i.e. chemical delivery, access/egress)
* Management of waste streams, including controlled substances such as asbestos and hazardous chemicals.
* Site inspections to include temporary work (i.e., scaffolding and boundaries, trenches etc.), work equipment and processes.
* Assessment of equipment in relation to safe use, such as monitoring of HAVS, noise and ergonomics, and PPE.
* Management of procurement for site safety, personal protective equipment, training and waste management.
* Incident response, management, and investigation.
* Production of a monthly in-depth report of safety on site including the Depot.
* Collation and development of information for project Health & Safety Files.
* Weekly safety walks with project stakeholders.
* Delivery of weekly toolbox talks, on-site training, review of contractor competencies, inductions and, as necessary, delivery of disciplinary procedures for breaches of safety policy.
* Ensure continued company compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and all other company accreditation schemes.
* Maintenance of the Training Matrix, identifying training needs and arranging training where appropriate.
* Renewal of all CSCS cards.
* Completion of all PQQ’s and SSIP’s as required.
* Overseeing of calibration of Company safety equipment including harnesses.
* Oversight and management of all externally and internally hired equipment and associated personnel.
* Supervision and management of personnel involved in the maintenance and servicing of the company’s fleet of vehicles.
Skills and Experience needed - Essential
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
* NEBOSH Certificate in occupational Health and Safety.
* IOSH Technician Grade.
* Ability to resolve any health and safety technical queries during a contract or project.
* All health and safety requirements a contract including compiling method statements and risk assessments.
* Good working knowledge of IT systems, including Office 365 and various estimating, drawing and contracts management packages.
* CSCS Card.
* Must be able to remain calm under pressure whilst working to strict deadlines.
* Full UK driving licence.
Skills and Experience needed - Desirable
* Familiar with JCT and NEC suite of contracts.
* Compilation and presentation of Operating & Maintenance Manuals.
