Job Description:

Pulse is currently seeking a determined Band 8a Forensic Psychologist to be welcomed into our client’s Personality Service, within a fantastic hospital based in London. This position will be available for the assigned Clinical Psychologist to start as soon as possible, working full-time hours per week for a period of 3 years.

This is a specialist treatment service for individuals with personality difficulties and a history of sexual offending. The service is part of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway and is jointly delivered by NHS and Prison partners. We are committed to working in partnership with Prison and Probation colleagues; this service is a joint enterprise so relies on collaborative working. We also work in partnership with other healthcare providers and our criminal justice system partners to improve health, support justice and reduce re-offending behaviour.

Main Duties:

* To undertake specialist clinical duties contributing to assessment and treatment of patients.
* To provide Psychological Therapies for with personality disorder /mental disorder/intellectual disability and complex trauma, developing specialist psychological formulations and assessments of patients with complex presentations, formulating plans for treatment and implementing specialist psychological interventions for individuals and groups.
* To provide specialist psychological assessments of patients based on appropriate analysis, interpretation, and integration of complex qualitative and quantitative data.
* To administer and interpret assessments of cognitive and emotional functioning as required and to assist the multi-disciplinary team in diagnosis, problem formulation and the planning/development of an appropriate treatment plan.
* To plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group treatments, informed by formulations of patients’ problems based on appropriate theoretical and therapeutic models and best practice guidelines.
* You will be registered with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist and preferably be BPS Chartered.
* You will have experience of and/or an interest in rehabilitation and the recovery of patients in a forensic setting.
* To have clinical supervision training.
* To have training in two or more distinct psychological therapies.
* To have skills in individual and group work and in program planning.
* To have skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment to inform the psychological formulation and intervention.
* To have well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information.
