Are you a skilled Carpenter who enjoys mentoring apprentices and wants to take the first step into education?
This further education college has a strong reputation for delivering practical construction training and preparing learners for industry careers. Their workshops replicate real working environments, giving students the opportunity to develop hands-on skills with industry-standard equipment.
Due to increased learner numbers, the college is looking for a Multi Trades Technician to support their Construction department. This is an entry point into education for someone from a Carpentry background who enjoys supporting and guiding apprentices but does not want the responsibility of full teaching or lesson delivery.
In this role, you will support the workshop environment, prepare materials and equipment, and supervise learners during practical sessions.
Working alongside teaching staff, you will help ensure learners work safely, stay on task and get the most from their practical training.
The Role
* Supporting Carpentry and Multi Trades workshops within the Construction department
* Preparing tools, materials and work areas for practical sessions
* Supervising learners during workshop and classroom sessions
* Supporting students with practical tasks and safe working practices
* Maintaining equipment, stock and workshop organisation
* Working alongside teaching staff to support learner progress
The Person
* Carpentry background within the construction industry
* Experience working with or supporting apprentices or junior staff
* Comfortable supervising groups of learners in a workshop or classroom environment
* Good understanding of workshop safety and practical construction tasks
* Organised, approachable and confident communicating with learners
* An interest in moving into the education or training sector
