Hours of Work and Pay
Thursdays 8:00–16:00 (8 hours per week). Rate: £13–£15 per hour.
Reporting to
The Direct Payments Recipient (the direct payments client). The employee will be employed by the recipient; Pembrokeshire County Council will support the recipient in meeting its employer obligations.
Introduction
A Direct Payments recipient in Pembrokeshire is looking for an experienced female Personal Care Assistant to support a lady with multiple sclerosis (MS). Support is required on Friday and Sunday. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and offers flexible working to meet the client’s care needs.
Main Duties
* Develop a reliable and trusting relationship with the client.
* Build a good rapport and communicate effectively.
* Support the client to carry out household tasks.
* Provide all aspects of personal care such as showering and dressing.
* Monitor skin integrity and apply cream as necessary.
* Use mobility aids such as wheelchairs and hoists.
* Assist the client with outings to nearby shops.
* Support the client to develop independent living skills.
* Provide companionship, including engaging in conversation and social interaction.
* Ensure the client’s safety at all times during working hours.
* Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by the client during working hours.
* Mind safeguarding issues and report concerns to the relevant authority.
* Contact the GP, social worker or local authority should the client need medical assistance.
Person Specification
* Responsible and honest.
* Proactive and self‑motivated.
* Has good local knowledge.
* Good time‑keeping and flexible with working patterns and duties.
* Strong communication skills.
* Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship.
Other Requirements
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car are required. Vehicle insurance must cover business use to allow the vehicle to be used within working hours.
