Social media volunteer

Watford
The VIP - Violence Intervention Project
Media
Posted: 20 October
Offer description

We are seeking a skilled Social Media Specialist to volunteer approximately 2‑3 hours per week to make a real difference to our cause of preventing youth violence.

In West London, the VIP has had huge impact on the lives of young people and families, building trusted relationships in challenging times and being a consistent person amid chaos.

All the work we do is driven by the concept that shame underpins violence.

We want to build our profile to reach more young people and to become pioneers in this shame‑based practice, creating opportunities for training and consultations with practitioners, schools, social services, probation and beyond, so that we can have an even greater impact on the lives of many young people.

What are we looking for?

* Professional experience in marketing communications, content creation, or social media management
* Strong writing skills with the ability to create engaging, purpose‑driven content
* Understanding of social media best practices and content scheduling tools
* Basic understanding of SEO principles
* Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp)
* Basic design skills using Canva or similar tools for creating social media assets
* Ability to translate complex information into compelling stories
* Passion for social impact and youth‑focused nonprofit work

Key Responsibilities

* Support the implementation of our content marketing plan, working alongside our Funding & Ops Manager and supported by our fractional Chief Marketing Officer
* Create and schedule social media content across our platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
* Assist with the development of our monthly blog posts focusing on youth violence intervention, therapeutic approaches, and the VIP's impact
* Help draft and distribute quarterly email newsletters to keep donors, volunteers, and professionals engaged
* Support the creation of infographics and data‑driven content showcasing our impact
* Assist with documenting success stories and case studies
* Support PR activities and media outreach to raise the VIP's profile
* Contribute to website content optimisation for improved SEO
