The successful post holders will be key inembedding physiotherapywithin the service andtaking opportunities toensurethe full potential and scope ofphysiotherapy is realised.
Clinics run Wednesday afternoons and Thursdayswith some flexibilityinwhenclinic admin andservice development timeis delivered.Theprimary baseisSouthmead hospital,but there may be needor opportunity to work in alternativelocationsacrosstheBristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershirehealth and social care system.
• The Highly Specialist Physiotherapist in Spasticity delivers enhanced level of practice and clinical leadership within the defined areas of the pathway.
• The post holder oversees the day-to-day running of the physiotherapy team within the Multidisciplinary (MDT) spasticity, dystonia and intrathecal baclofen outpatient clinics and is line managed by the Pathway Lead for Neurosciences and Stroke.
• They undertake the role of a clinical leader to plan, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate the physio service into these areas.
• They will support the MDT in the delivery of the services including management of referrals, participation in multi-disciplinary team clinics, and making onwards referrals whenrequired.
• Work as an autonomous, highly skilled clinician, to provide a specialised service of physiotherapy including assessment, treatment, advice and education for patients, carers/families and staff within the spasticity,dystoniaand intra-thecal baclofen outpatient clinics.
• As the Physiotherapy Clinical Lead within the MDT, provide specialist advice to other professionals on holistic management strategies and work closely with the Consultants and MDT to formulateappropriate managementplans for patients.
• Provideappropriate trainingand education to other Health care professionals, including physiotherapists and students. To be an expert resource within the Physiotherapy service for this specialist patient group.
