The role
The post is for a charge nurse within the Stroke Unit, requiring someone who can articulate and deliver their own philosophy of nursing while leading the unit. The role centres on patient‑first care, therapeutic engagement, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration while maintaining accountability for core nursing duties.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
Full‑time, permanent
Base location – Larkfield Unit
Shift Pattern – Day / Night
Key responsibilities
* Deliver high‑quality patient care with a strong patient‑first ethos.
* Develop therapeutic relationships with individuals recovering from stroke.
* Work effectively within an interdisciplinary team while maintaining responsibility for nursing practice.
* Provide work‑based education to colleagues and support completion of all in‑service training.
* Demonstrate mental and physical resilience in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
* Promote the health and well‑being of older adults within the Stroke Unit.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
* Previous stroke‑care experience desirable but not essential.
* High‑level communication skills are mandatory.
* The ability to think abstractly is desirable.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and completion of all in‑service training is required.
* Skills to integrate positively into a unit team and uphold high standards of nursing care.
