Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Crane Operator / Rigger Foreman to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Crane Operator / Rigger Foreman is responsible for overseeing crane operations and supervising rigging activities while ensuring compliance with applicable safety and operational standards. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Operating cranes in a safe and professional manner in accordance with NAVFAC P-307 and other applicable standards.
2. Supervising and leading rigging personnel during crane operations.
3. Ensuring all rigging operations are performed in compliance with NAVFAC P-307 guidelines.
4. Providing training and oversight to rigging personnel as required.
5. Familiarizing riggers with the proper use and understanding of hand signals for crane operations, as specified in NAVFAC P-307.
6. Inspecting rigging tools and equipment to ensure they are in good condition and meet operational standards.
7. Preparing and reviewing lift plans to ensure crane and rigging operations align with safety and mission readiness guidelines.
8. Monitoring and ensuring compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations during crane and rigging activities.
9. Conducting routine inspections and maintenance on cranes to ensure operational effectiveness and safety compliance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
10. Proven experience operating cranes and performing rigging operations.
11. Training and certification in accordance with NAVFAC P-307 standards for crane and rigging operations.
12. Familiar with the use of hand signals in crane operations as outlined in NAVFAC P-307.
13. Strong understanding of safety procedures and practices related to crane and rigging operations.
14. High school diploma or equivalent.
15. Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
16. Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
17. Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
18. Valid country driver’s license and passport.
19. Extensive knowledge of NAVFAC P-307 requirements and best practices for crane operations and rigging.
20. Previous supervisory or leadership experience in crane and rigging operations.
21. Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
