We are currently recruiting for a NI Fitter to join our Team based out of our Addlestone Office in the Surrey, but covering the Slough, Reading and Guildford regions. The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring & setting out lift/escalator installations in accordance with approved procedures. They will also comply with statutory regulations and organisational safety and ensure preparation of work area for installation activities and handing over and confirming completion of installation activities. Please note that if you are electrically or mechanically qualified and working already in the construction or Lift industry, but have not completed your NVQ3, we would consider your application for an Improver role, so please make an application regardless. This is a full time and permanent role.


What you'll be doing:

1. Installing lift/escalator Well and Ancillary Equipment in accordance with approved procedures by selecting appropriate tools and equipment based on the operations to be performed and the equipment to be installed
2. Installing Traction Equipment in accordance with approved procedures by selecting appropriate tools and equipment. Installation will require the siting, assembly, fitting, alignment and adjustment of the lift/escalator equipment
3. Installing Lift Ropes (traction media) and adjust in accordance with approved procedures. The applicant will be required to have install suspension, safety and governor ropes to new or reconstructed lift equipment
4. Installation of Lift Doors and Frames in accordance with approved procedures. The doors and frames to be installed include manual and power-operated solid sliding doors, multi-leaf doors, hinged doors, collapsible gates, shutter gates and bi-parting doors and shutters, door operators and safety devices for new or reconstructed lift equipment
5. Checking and Setting the Lift/escalator Installation in accordance with approved procedures. The checks to be carried out include the final checks and adjustments to the operation of lift/escalator installations prior to final test and commissioning
6. Carrying out site surveys
7. Keeping the supervisor informed regarding the progress of work, hours spent and any non-compliance
8. Staying in communication with the customer and the supervisor to ensure the satisfaction of the customer needs
9. Attending all relevant training sessions
10. Carrying out all works in accordance with the Company’s Quality Corporate policy
11. Working in accordance the Company’s Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements, as well as setting a personal example of safe behaviour
12. Contributing to the Company safety objectives, where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under their direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to its safety management system

What we're looking for:

13. Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator Installation or equivalent or mechanically or electrically qualified and willing to work towards an NVQ Qualification
14. Possession of a relevant/valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card
15. More advanced product and Installation knowledge/experience
16. Proven fault finding and diagnostic skills
17. The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
18. The ability to work independently with a flexible approach
19. Good communication skills at different levels (Client/Installation Managers/SAIS Inspectors
20. Good Punctuality
21. Manual dexterity - Requires the use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate various hand and power tools and to record written information.
