Research Assistant or Research Fellow in Large Data Analytics
Join Cranfield University as a Research Assistant or Research Fellow in Large Data Analytics to develop large data models, capture and refine data sets, and generate insightful reports.
Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Cranfield Defence and Security (CDS). Fixed Term Contract for 12 months.
Research Assistant (close to completing PhD): £28,929 – £33,825 per annum, potential progression to £39,586.
Research Fellow (PhD obtained): £37,337 – £44,906 per annum.
Locations: Cranfield, Bedfordshire or Shrivenham, Oxfordshire.
About the Role
Your role will contribute to the data capture, recording and iterative development of large data and the associated interrogation techniques, data visualisation through various reporting mediums.
Responsibilities
* The manual and computational capture and recording of large data sets, the design and integration techniques to enable data validation, integrity, analysis, output validation and reporting.
* Developing integrative strategies for a diverse set of data, integrating the outcomes to inform future projected trend analysis.
* Applying statistical and machine learning to project future data analysis.
* Managing and analysing large data sets using efficient data structures and providing infrastructure for sharing resources.
* Developing research objectives and proposals for own or joint research, with assistance of a mentor if required.
* Applying knowledge in a way which develops new intellectual understanding, for example generative AI, and deep learning-based methods.
About You
You will have extensive experience of working with large data sets. Candidates are expected to have a history of developing models using large data sources and methods.
You will have the ability to interact with academic and industry partners to explain complex ideas to non-scientists in a comprehensible way.
We value your ability to work independently and self-motivate, enabling you to find innovative and practical solutions to complex problems.
You will need to successfully undertake a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check to be offered the role.
