Overview
The diabetes and endocrine service is an active department dedicated to supporting and improving the lives of its patients.
We have ten diabetes and endocrine consultants across our sites, with dedicated diabetes and endocrine specialist nurses. We also have a dedicated podiatry (foot care) service and some dietetic input. There are dedicated diabetes endocrine wards on each site with daily ward rounds from the consultants. In addition, there is a team of endocrine nurses who provide support for dynamic endocrine tests. There are a number of general diabetes and endocrine clinics across both sites, Consultant In Diabetes and Endocrinology-
Responsibilities
* The post holder will be covering up to three clinics per week, depending on need for ward cover which will be general endocrine and diabetes clinics, although there will be room to develop sub-speciality interest in time.
* Provide in-reach into SDEC, with daily review of patients as needed.
* Inpatient review of diabetes and endocrine issues on other wards will also be included.
* Attend the monthly endocrine MDT meeting and be involved in regular meetings with endocrine specialist nurses to discuss dynamic function tests.
We are an organisation that is progressing, with improvements aimed at delivering high-quality care and improving patient outcomes. We operate from two main sites, KGH in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford, with busy emergency departments and ongoing plans for service development.
