Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our clients construction team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting the project surveyor with project costs, ensuring that financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively throughout the lifecycle of construction projects.
This position would be ideal for a recently qualified quantity surveyor who wants to learn, develop and grow as the project progresses.
It is also essential that you live within an hours travel of Gosport (Southampton/Portsmouth) Accommodation will not be provided.
Duties
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
* Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of projects from a financial perspective.
* Monitor project budgets and expenditures, providing regular updates to management on cost performance.
* Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure accurate cost forecasting and financial planning.
* Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favourable terms.
* Conduct risk assessments related to cost implications and develop strategies to mitigate financial risks.
* Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to projects for auditing purposes.
* Provide advice on procurement strategies and assist in the selection of contractors based on cost analysis.
Qualifications
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is essential.
* Proven experience in quantity surveying or a similar role within the construction industry is highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of cost control techniques and project management principles.
* Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
* Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
