Equipment Officer Apply Now Mundells, Welwyn Garden City Job Number HCC27995 Location Welwyn Garden City Directorate Adult Care Services Salary Range £30,559 progressing to £33,366 Contract Type Permanent Full Time/Part Time Full Time Closing date 11-Jun-2025 Job Title: Equipment Officer Starting Salary: £30,559 progressing to £33,366 per annum (pro rata for part time) – pay award pending Hours: 37 Location: Welwyn Garden City Contract Type: Permanent Directorate: Adult Care Services About the team As an Equipment Officer, you will be part of our Specials Clinical Team within Hertfordshire Equipment Service to help maintain, refurbish, and deliver specialist equipment for children and adults with complex needs. You’ll ensure quality and safety standards while working in a fast-paced environment. A key part of the role is recycling and reusing warehouse stock to ensure cost-effective equipment provision. Reporting to the Special Technical Operations Officer, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference. This role will suit someone who is organised, detail-oriented, can problem solve and passionate about helping others. About the role Equipment Officers manage workloads via the HES internal system (ELMS), following build specifications set by prescribing professionals. They ensure all equipment is mechanically safe, with daily documentation and image uploads to ELMS. Responsibilities include checking, refurbishing, and repairing returned equipment for recycling, conducting stock checks, and ordering new items. You’ll liaise with company reps, therapists, clients, and families, working closely with HES teams to ensure smooth service delivery. Training is essential, with internal and external sessions helping you achieve technical competency across various equipment types. You’ll also conduct repairs both in-house and in the community, including client homes, schools, and other settings. About you Essential: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; confident using new IT systems and software Practical experience in assembling, maintaining, and repairing specialist equipment for children and adults Comfortable working at varying heights, standing for extended periods, and operating in warehouse and community settings Ability to safely lift and carry items within manual handling guidelines Strong initiative, able to work independently and as part of a team Meticulous approach to work with excellent daily task prioritisation skills Process-driven mindset with attention to detail Driving licence DBS check required (to be conducted post-interview) Desirable: Excellent customer service and communication skills Awareness of the importance of recycling equipment and its benefits to the service Knowledge of health and safety regulations, LOLER standards, and risk assessment This is an opportunity to play a vital role in providing essential equipment to Hertfordshire residents. You’ll have access to supervision and work closely with various teams within HES, ensuring seamless collaboration and service excellence.
