As an Embedded Software & Firmware Engineer, you'll be hands-on with cutting-edge embedded solutions that prioritise both performance and sustainability. Designing systems that reduce environmental impact through energy-efficient operation.
This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week on-site at the South Wales office.
What You'll Be Doing
Designing and implementing embedded software and firmware for microcontrollers and programmable logic devices
Developing low-level drivers, communication protocols, and real-time control logic
Writing efficient, maintainable code in C/C++
Contributing to system architecture, requirements definition, and hardware integration
Debugging and resolving firmware issues across development and production
Supporting secure firmware update mechanisms and bootloaders
Participating in verification and validation activities, including unit and system testing
Maintaining clear technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle
Collaborating closely with hardware, systems, and QA teams
What We're Looking For
A degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field
Solid experience in embedded software/firmware development
Proficiency in C/C++ and experience with real-time or bare-metal systems
Strong understanding of microcontrollers and digital communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN)
Confidence using lab tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analysers
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and Agile development practices
Experience with safety-critical or high-integrity systems (e.g., aerospace, automotive)
Exposure to FPGA development or low-level hardware programming
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
