We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and skilled Senior Legal Counsel supporting our international RWE Offshore Wind business.
As a Senior Legal Counsel in the Construction & Procurement Law Department you will work alongside other members of the RWE Offshore Wind Legal Team and closely cooperate with other departments to deliver a holistic and streamlined service to the business of RWE Offshore Wind around the globe.
Being a specialist in the field of Maritime Law, you will support RWE’s offshore projects around the globe as the first point of contact providing legal support for all Maritime Law matters.
About the role
1. Providing legal advice for highly complex international construction project in various jurisdictions with a focus on Maritime Law matters
2. Advising on, developing, drafting and negotiating of all kinds of maritime law related contracts required for the full life cycle of RWE Offshore Wind business (e.g. BIMCO charter parties, long term vessel framework agreements, bunkering agreements, transport and installation contracts etc.)
3. Being first point of contact for maritime legal advice, coordinating specialized inhouse and external legal advice in a cost and work efficient manner and take decisions on legal risks
4. Keeping oversight of all legal matters relating to maritime law related issues and advising senior management about all related legal risks, including claims and disputes
5. Overseeing standardisation and process improvement initiatives
6. Developing non-standard, customised solutions when needed to address complex project challenges
7. Establishing effective cross-functional and cross-cultural working relationships with legal and business colleagues in the relevant regions and the wider RWE group including the provision of high quality legal and contractual training
Job requirements and experience
8. Collaborative individual with an open, positive and solution-oriented mindset
9. Fully qualified as a lawyer and has advanced legal skills in maritime law and additional qualification (e.g. PhD, LL.M)
10. Multiple years of work experience as a lawyer or inhouse counsel in a respected law firm or company dealing with shipping and maritime law
11. The ability to handle multiple tasks, take on new responsibilities and handle duties effectively in an environment that undergoes frequent changes
12. Proficient commercial and technical understanding of large industrial projects and the ability to provide tailormade high quality legal support
13. Significant skills in organization, analysis and communication
14. A high level of engagement, is a team contributor and is able to work individually and cross-functionally
15. A fluent command of English (additional languages are beneficial), enjoys working in an international team and is open to some work-related travel
