The role

Reporting to and supporting the Spot Sales Manager in achieving Spot sales commercial budget. The role will specifically focus on Direct Sales.

The role is to plan and develop commercial activity with a key focus on maximising volume & margin. To maintain and develop a working and sustainable portfolio of accounts via account management while securing new commercial business.

Responsibilities:

1. Actively Grow, Develop and Deliver spot sales in accordance with the wider Sales strategy with specific attention to the Direct Sales sector
2. Manage a portfolio of spot customer accounts, acting as the principle point of contact this shall require external customer meetings to provide focused account management
3. Close interaction with Supply, Logistics and Finance Teams to ensure Groups position is appropriately maintained
4. Manage and communicate commercial spot pricing on a daily basis
5. Provide accurate monthly and annual demand forecasts to support planning, ensuring accurate representation of deals and delivery against these targets
6. Liaising with Operations and Finance teams on a regular basis to ensure customer administrative queries are accurately resolved promptly
7. To monitor and manage customer credit balances on a continuous basis and adhere to the Groups Credit and KYC procedures
8. To manage outstanding balances with customers on a regular basis and ensuring these are lifted within a timely manner
9. To ensure accurate and timely entry of sales and quotes into the Group’s operating system
10. Actively participate and contribute on both Group and Sales development initiatives / projects as required by the Spot Sale Manager
11. Attend internal and external training to further develop industry knowledge, skills and capabilities
12. Monitor Industry developments, including new legislation, market developments on both a regional and national basis
13. Represent the business at industry events and seminars

Knowledge and Experience

14. A working knowledge of the downstream petroleum industry in the UK
15. Demonstrable Business to Business sales and account management experience
16. Ability to appreciate market opportunities as they arise and develop short, mid-term and long-term strategic plans
17. Excellent negotiation skills
18. Understanding of the Sales cycle and Key processes and interface with other internal stakeholders
19. Strong reporting ability and experience of product pricing with an appreciation of supply economic calculations

26. Working Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook
27. Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement
28. Flexible to support the prevailing needs of the business
