Purpose of the Account Manager
The primary purpose of the Account Manager is to deliver 24/7/365 100% reliability and availability of critical equipment required to sustain the critical environment across the Data Centre portfolio.
Scope of Role
This role is responsible for all operational activities, including people management, maintenance and repair work, required for the critical environment equipment supporting the data centre (electrical, mechanical, monitoring, control systems and asset management operations). It includes providing leadership, management and development of the supplier team, ensuring supplier financial and contractual commitments are met, and day-to-day management of the Data Centre Operations team.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and manage professional relationships with client representatives to create a positive customer experience.
* Deliver performance levels that achieve and beat KPIs and SLAs set in the statement of works/contract.
* Have full financial responsibility for the contracted budget spend for the data centre.
* Track purchase orders and headcount information for monthly billing.
* Prepare and own monthly forecasting for billing and budget spend.
* Prepare site data for monthly reports and meetings, including monthly supplier contract reviews, quarterly business reviews (QBR) and other required reports.
* Drive consistency across the site in how activities are managed.
* Ensure adherence to a single approach for the site.
* Promote collaboration and cooperation among supplier teams.
* Provide leadership, guidance, coaching and support to supplier employees, including training, assessment, recognition/reward and appraisal systems.
* Motivate and develop the supplier team to maintain culture and standards consistent with supplier expectations.
* Audit and monitor team efficiency and develop innovations that benefit the client and supplier.
* Deliver effective business communication through leadership, management, and other reporting.
* Provide a learning environment and appropriate training and development planning.
* Ensure basic training needs are delivered and employees are competent in their roles.
* Talent manage staff to identify appropriate training plans and career progression.
* Lead management activities including meetings, procedural development, client relationship fostering, and service excellence.
* Manage annual maintenance service contracts within budgets.
* Produce financial activity and statistical reports to feed regular management reports.
* Act as point of contact during significant events or multi-discipline technical escalations.
* Participate in business continuity plans as necessary.
* Ensure data centre operations and business policies are communicated, implemented, and adhered to within the contract.
* Ensure healthy and safe working conditions and implementation of quality, health, safety, and environment policies across all activities.
* Maintain optimum staffing structures balancing cost reduction with service excellence.
* Support workload peaks and troughs and disaster recovery.
* Ensure post holders are competent and succession planning arrangements are in place.
* Implement control systems to meet statutory, policy and contractual commitments.
* Maintain customer focus and relationships with key client representatives.
* Ensure contractually agreed SLAs and KPIs within the scope of works (SOW) are met and records retained.
* Plan and schedule subcontractor maintenance and repair works.
* Maintain up-to-date accounts and documentation for subcontractors.
* Ensure subcontractors deliver quality and competent service and meet contractual obligations.
* Manage additional tasks as directed by senior management.
Accountabilities
* Report directly to the Area General Manager.
* Accountable to supplier functional heads as appropriate.
* Maintain close working relationships with key client representatives.
* Manage direct reports.
* Handle all subcontractors managed by supplier.
* Hold financial responsibility for the full budget and financial management on behalf of supplier.
Person Specification
Training
* Demonstrate a career with continuous personal development, ideally in data centre management or alternative critical environments.
* Finance experience with invoicing, budgets and business accounts.
Experience (Essential)
* Managerial experience in a critical environment.
* Understand safety code requirements related to service provision.
* Experience with health & safety risk assessments and control measures.
* Experience maintaining critical temperature-controlled environments.
* Detailed understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in a data centre including transformers, generators, fuel systems, switchgear, UPS, batteries, ATS/STS, PDUs, HVAC, chilled water, fire alarm, and suppression systems.
* Operations management experience: team management, scheduling, performance reviews.
* Maintenance scheduling and subcontractor supervision.
* Strong understanding of CMMS tools.
* Experience managing escalation and emergency issues.
* Vendor management experience with outsourced support and projects.
* Familiarity with ISO audit processes.
* Recruitment and line/supervisory experience.
* Team development, appraisal and people management practices.
* Project management principles.
