We are working with a global leader in claims management and loss adjusting services to identify an exceptional Major & Complex Loss (MCL) Adjuster. This is a high-profile appointment suited to a technically accomplished professional who thrives on handling large, complex, and high-value claims across a broad range of lines.
You will play a central role in managing significant losses from first instruction through to settlement, acting as a trusted partner to insurers, brokers and policyholders on some of the most demanding and reputationally sensitive cases in the market.
As a Major & Complex Loss Adjuster, you will take full ownership of a caseload of high-value and technically challenging claims. You will be expected to exercise sound judgement, deploy specialist expertise, and deliver outcomes that meet both commercial and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage a portfolio of major and complex losses from instruction through to resolution, including large property, liability, BI and catastrophe losses
2. Conduct thorough site investigations, assessments and cause-and-origin analysis across domestic, commercial and industrial risks
3. Prepare detailed technical reports, coverage opinions and quantum assessments for insurers and Lloyd’s markets
4. Lead coverage analysis, policy interpretation and liability determination on complex, multi-party claims
5. Appoint, instruct and manage specialist third parties including forensic accountants, engineers, legal counsel and restoration contractors
6. Actively manage business interruption claims, including loss of profits, increased cost of working and contingent BI
7. Engage directly with senior stakeholders: insurers, brokers, risk managers, legal teams and C-suite representatives
8. Manage claims proactively to control indemnity spend, minimise lifecycle costs and achieve timely resolution
9. Support and mentor junior adjusters and contribute to technical best practice across the team
10. Maintain accurate claims records, financial reserves and diary management in line with client SLAs and regulatory requirements
Experience
11. Proven track record handling major and complex losses with values typically exceeding £k
12. Deep technical knowledge across property (commercial and industrial), business interruption and/or liability lines
13. Experience adjusting for Lloyd’s of London and/or London Market insurers
14. Strong coverage and policy interpretation skills across a wide range of wordings
15. Demonstrated ability to manage large, multi-stakeholder losses independently from cradle to grave
16. Excellent written communication skills, including technical report writing and reserve justification
17. Desirable Experience
18. Experience in catastrophe or large loss response environments
19. Exposure to construction, engineering, marine or specialist lines
20. Prior involvement in complex litigation support or arbitration
21. Experience leading or mentoring adjusting teams

Qualifications
28. ACII, FCII or equivalent insurance qualification (preferred)
29. FCILA or working towards Chartered Loss Adjuster status (desirable)
30. Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience
31. Full UK driving licence
