Job Overview
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Power Transmission and Distribution team. This permanent role can be based in various UK locations and involves working on diverse projects related to power transmission grid systems, renewable energy integration, and large infrastructure development from concept to delivery.
Responsibilities
* Design of primary plant layout for HV substations
* Specification of equipment for HV Plant and ancillary systems
* Provide engineering input across project lifecycle stages
* Coordinate with clients and internal teams including civil, structural, and control systems
* Deliver projects involving new technologies such as energy storage, HVDC, and smart grids
* Provide professional services to UK and international clients
Candidate Requirements
* Degree-qualified, ideally Chartered Engineer
* Experience in power transmission/distribution industry
* Design and supervision experience of HV substations (110kV to 400kV)
* Knowledge of HV AIS/GIS specifications and project lifecycle
* Understanding of health and safety regulations applicable to HV systems
Preferred Skills
* Experience with overhead line and HV cable systems
* Site construction and commissioning experience
* Familiarity with earthing software (CDEGs) and protection software (ETAP)
* Control and protection system design experience
* Masters Degree (preferred)
