About the Role

We are seeking Medical Registrars including Basic Trainees to join our Medical Department here at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital. The role would commence 3 August 2026. Our Department of Medicine is made up of 9 ward-based teams, including 28 Dual-Trained Internal Medicine Physicians, 26 Registrars, 15 House Officers, and support from Trainee Interns. We offer a comprehensive training environment that enables trainees to complete all requirements of Basic Physician Training. Advanced Trainees are encouraged to apply for specialised positions in Renal, Respiratory, or Older Persons Health, which are advertised separately.


About the Team/Service/Location

We foster a collaborative, supportive and collegial work environment. Our current rotations include Cardiology, Respiratory, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Medicine (with Neurology and Older Peoples Health), Renal, Acute Medicine as well as outpatient-based rotations in Medical Oncology and Haematology.

Hawkes Bay Hospital is a 400-bed secondary level public hospital in Hastings, serving a population of over 180,000 people. We offer both acute and elective care across a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. We are supported by a strong regional ICU and flight team with tertiary support for cardiac intervention, cardiothoracic surgery, plastics and neurosurgery from Wellington, ensuring comprehensive care for a diverse patient population.


About you

Youre a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) PGY3 or above
