Overview

University of Sheffield SCHARR-TAG at the University of Sheffield has an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for health economic modelling and cost-effectiveness analyses educated to at least degree level. We are seeking highly numerate candidates with experience of health technology assessment to join our internationally-recognised team.

The successful applicant will work within the Health Economics and Decision Science (HEDS) Section as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting and undertaking decision modelling in applied policy and methods research, focusing on the cost-effectiveness of healthcare interventions. They will contribute to and support projects funded by research grants and knowledge exchange consultancy, involving designing and undertaking health economic, statistical, and epidemiological modelling-based analyses for policy appraisal.

The work is for a wide range of decision makers, primarily the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) through work undertaken by the SCHARR Technology Assessment Group, but also for major UK research councils such as the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), local NHS and commercial organisations. Design and validation of health economic models are key activities. Approaches used include decision-analytic modelling and statistical analyses. The successful applicant will support senior modellers, contribute to the design of evaluations, undertake analyses, contribute to peer-reviewed reports, journal articles and conference presentations, and help write proposals.

* Engage with decision makers, primarily NICE, through work undertaken by the SCHARR Technology Assessment Group, and with major UK research councils such as NIHR, local NHS and commercial organisations.


Qualifications

* Educated to at least degree level.
* Highly numerate with experience of health technology assessment and cost-effectiveness analyses.
