Main duties of the job
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with extensive orthopaedic theatre experience to become a key member of our dynamic multidisciplinary team. This role is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their perioperative career or seeking a fresh challenge in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical leadership, team‑building, and communication skills, developed through experience within orthopaedic speciality.
All responsibilities will be performed within the scope of the post holder’s qualifications and registration.
As a senior member of the team, the post holder will act as a role model and mentor, supporting junior staff and students through training, supervision, and participation in professional development processes such as Preceptorship, Knowledge and Development Reviews (PKDR), and recruitment and selection activities.
The post holder will also take charge of the department as part of the theatre management team, demonstrating confidence in leadership and departmental coordination.
Participate in clinical practice to deliver the quality agenda through monitoring, evaluating, planned improvement of Key Performance Indicators.
Report any dangerous acts or omissions which compromise the Health and Safety of staff or patients.

Qualifications
* Current professional registration (NMC/HPC)
* First Level Degree, Diploma, or relevant to healthcare or equivalent or working towards
Experience
* Relevant and current theatre experience at band 6 level
* Current experience at leading a team
* Experience of staff management and dealing with difficult situations
* Experience with audit action plan development and review experience in taking a lead role in audit knowledge of current NHSE theatre plan
* Experience with staff engagement
* Significant experience within Orthopaedic surgery.
* Proven ability to support clinical activity within the orthopaedic team, with confidence and competence in scrubbing for a wide range of complex elective and trauma surgical procedures.
