Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist

Responsible For: Delivering high quality evidenced based interventions to clients of Dr Craig Dunn & Associates LTD. This will primarily support children & adolescents (age 5-18).

Job Title: Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist

Responsible To: Clinical Lead, Dr Craig Dunn

Location: 14 Newton Terrace, Glasgow, G3 7PJ

Start Date: June 2025

Salary: Competitive Hourly Rate

Working Hours:

* Tuesday: 4:00pm – 8:30pm
* Thursday: 4:00pm – 8:30pm
* Sunday: 10:00am – 4:30pm

Job Summary


The post-holder will be responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions to children and adolescents (aged 5–18). This role is central to the ongoing development and delivery of Dr Craig Dunn & Associates Ltd’s mental health services for young people across Glasgow, with a strong emphasis on client-centred, trauma-informed, and community-focused care.


Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Delivery
* Provide specialist interventions for a range of presentations including separation anxiety, OCD, body image concerns, and eating-related issues.
* Conduct structured assessments and problem-focused formulations.
* Deliver therapy using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and at least one additional therapeutic modality (e.g., person-centred therapy, play therapy, drama therapy). Evidence of clinical training and competence in the additional modality is required.
* Screen referrals to determine service suitability and provide appropriate signposting or private therapy as needed.
* Involve parents/carers in treatment where clinically appropriate, and support them throughout the intervention process.
* Manage transitions to and from local authority services for more complex presentations.
Safeguarding & Ethical Practice
* Actively participate in safeguarding procedures in accordance with legal and ethical requirements.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and best practices related to the protection of children and young people.
* Operate in line with ethical codes of conduct (e.g., HCPC, BACP, BABCP).
Professional Standards
* Complete detailed mental health and risk assessments, implementing evidence-based risk management plans.
* Maintain accurate, confidential electronic clinical records.
* Provide clear information to clients and families to support informed decision-making around treatment options.
* Record and monitor outcome measures and satisfaction data for clinical audit and service evaluation.
Team Engagement & Development
* Attend and contribute to clinical group supervision and team practice meetings.
* Participate in the development of service delivery and organisational goals.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to support integrated client care.


Personal and Professional Development


* Attend monthly case and line management supervision (1.5 hours).
* Arrange and engage in regular clinical supervision (external or internal as required).
* Maintain an ongoing commitment to CPD activities relevant to ethical and professional development.
* Actively contribute to service evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives.


Person Specification

Essential Criteria


Recognised qualification in psychotherapy

Registration with a professional body (e.g., BACP, HCPC, BABCP)

Clinical experience working with children and young people, or demonstrable competence and intent to continue in CYP work

Trained in CBT and at least one other modality (e.g., person-centred therapy, play therapy, drama therapy)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to offer empathic, non-judgemental support

Organisational skills to manage caseloads and documentation effectively

Willingness to collaborate within a team and contribute to shared goals
