Junior Charge Practitioner

A Band 6 vacancy for a Junior Charge Nurse / ODP has arisen in Gynae and Urology Theatres, Castle Hill Hospital.
We would like to invite applications from practitioners who have at least 18 months Peri-operative experience as a Band 5 or above, to work in this busy, exciting and expanding area. Experience in theatres and mentorship qualification are essential.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a hardworking and motivated individual to join the Gynae and Urology Team at Castle Hill Hospital. The successful candidate will act as a role model, demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards in all aspects of their work.
The successful candidate will support the theatre team and foster a psychologically safe space and inclusive environment where all staff feel heard and valued.
The successful applicant must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join a strong proactive management team. The ability to adapt well to change, participate in theatre audits and quality improvement projects is essential.
The service currently covers Monday to Sunday. Staff will be expected to participate in various 24 hour, 7 days a week shifts, including on call to support the out of hours service. A flexible attitude to meet the needs of the service is essential.

Education / Qualifications
* Registered Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner
* Demonstrate commitment to undertake further academic study
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Prior theatre experience 18 months post qualifying experience.
* Experience of supervision of junior staff
* Experiencing coordinating a shift
* Ability to dual role (scrub & anaesthetics)
* Experience of Gynae and Urology procedures
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
* Shows desire and capability to develop in nursing/ODP care standards
* Show knowledge in health and safety issues
* Essence of care / nursing strategy and follows evidence-based practice
